Two weeks ago Makana began a series of posts to help you better understand how to get started and stay motivated to use coupons and special offers and reduce your household expenses. Her second step …Organization.

After you have set up your secret identity, you need to get organized. This is the easy part. And time consuming. But just in the beginning. Hey, maybe this can be a New Years Resolution for you! There are many ways to organize. Just type in Coupon Organization to Google and you will get hundreds upon hundreds of way to get organized. Here are two popular ways though.
-The Krazy Coupon Lady (http://thekrazycouponlady.com/) She has a downloadable binder.
- No-Clipping Method.
You can head over to the Krazy Coupon Lady to see how she does it. In the meantime, I hope to explain the no-clipping method.
When you get your paper, you pull out the coupons. Then you date the front with the date they came. Example: 10/31. If you are subscribing to coupon sites, you will notice they are abbreviated in this manner SS, RP GM etc. This stands for Smart Source, Red Plum or General Mills etc. When you see a deal you want, you can easily find the coupon by reading when it came in the mail.
Example: BC Cake Mix 10/$10
SS 10/31  .50/1
Final Price: .50 or free  (it would be free if your store doubles coupons)
You would next go to your Smart Source Coupons and find the one marked 10/31 and then clip your Betty Crocker Cake mix coupon.
Once you get the organization in place, it won’t take more than 30 minutes to clip and sort. If you are getting only one paper, you can do this in 10 minutes. Have you found a way that works for you? Please share!
